Karyna is originally from Ukraine, but due to the war, her family moved to Portugal. When she reached out to me, she explained that amidst all the turmoil, she also became a mother to a beautiful little girl. This photoshoot was not only a way for her to celebrate life, but also a means to capture portraits that would remind her of the woman she has become.
Her words resonated with me: “I want to preserve the memory of life on the ocean shore among the picturesque rocks. In my pre-war life, I worked as a video editor, and your photos resemble stills from a movie. This is exactly what I was hoping to find.”
On the day of the photoshoot, we almost rescheduled because it was raining. But in the end, we decided to go ahead with it, because we thought it would add a cinematic look to her pictures.
Karyna did an amazing job; she fearlessly embraced the rain and climbed on sharp rocks. With nobody else on the beach, it truly felt like a beautiful and intimate moment between two women sharing something special together.
